Kinnitty Golfing Society was first formed when a group of Kinnitty locals went playing Golf in Castle Barna Golf Club, Daingean. Co Offaly on 28th Dec 1999. 

After a few beers and a very enjoyable day it was decided that a society should be formed and a few people were given the task of setting up a meeting to organise a committee and arrange golf outings for the following year. Pat Spain was elected as Captain.

Sean de Cleir and Seamus Kealey were on the committee and the first official outing was played in Castle Barna Golf Club on Saturday 29th April 2000.

We had 23 participants playing that day and since then our Society has grown from strength to strength with up to 80 people having joined at some stage or another.

Green fees for our first outing were £14 and membership for the year was £10.

Pat Spain, as well as being captain won first prize. Seamus Kealey was second and Ger Coughlan finished third.
